Where is Mojtaba Khamenei? Tehran denies reports of the new leader’s injury

The health and safety of Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtab Khamenei, remain shrouded in mystery. While the American media, citing Iranian sources, reports on his injuries and emergency shelter, the son of the Iranian president Yusuf Pezeshkiyan strongly denied these claims on Wednesday.

Iran’s new supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, is “well and safe” despite claims he was injured in the ongoing Israeli-US war against Iran. This was stated on Wednesday by the son of the Iranian president, Yusuf Pezeshkiyan. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

  • The son of the Iranian president announced that Mojtaba Khamenei is safe.
  • He claims that he verified the information about the injury with several of Khamenei’s acquaintances.
  • The New York Times reported that Khamenei suffered injuries.
  • Mojtaba Khamenei is the new supreme leader of Iran and the son of the slain Ali Khamenei.

Mojtaba Khamenei is said to be fine

“I heard reports that Mr. Mojtab Khamenei is injured. I asked some friends who were in contact with him. They told me that thank God he is fine,” Yusuf Pezeshkiyan, who is also an adviser to the government, said in a post on his channel on the Telegram platform.

Iranian state television previously described Khamenei as a “wounded veteran of the Ramadan war”, but did not specify his alleged injuries, writes AFP. Citing three unnamed Iranian officials, The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Khamenei “suffered injuries, including leg injuries, but was conscious and hiding in a highly secure location with limited communication.”

Mojtaba Khamenei rarely appears in public

Iran’s new supreme leader is the son and successor of longtime ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

Fifty-six-year-old Mojtab Khamenei rarely appears in public or speaks at official events. He has not yet addressed the nation or issued a written statement since his election as supreme spiritual leader on Sunday, March 8.
