Next Tuesday (17) in Brasília, FGV Comunicação will promote the international conference “Disinformation, Sovereignty and Democracy in the Era of “.
It will be the first event in Brazil dedicated to the discussion of “Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference” (FIMI), a concept used by the EU to describe coordinated manipulation campaigns promoted to influence public and political debate in other countries. The topic has been gaining attention given the advancement of generative artificial intelligence.
Report from the European Union’s External Action Service points to 505 incidents of this type in 2024, involving around 38 thousand digital channels, which reached 90 countries. Elections appear among the main targets of these operations.
Participating in the meeting are the EU ambassador to Brazil, Marian Schuegraf, the regional director of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), Marcela Ríos Tobar, the director of FGV Comunicação, Marco Ruediger, the secretary of Digital Policies of the Presidency’s Communication Secretariat, João Brant, the special advisor of the Attorney General’s Office, Marcelo Almeida, and other guests.
The event will take place at FGV’s headquarters in Brasília (SGAN Quadra 602 – Modules A, B and C – Asa Norte).
