Iran threatens US troops and announces new attacks against Israeli targets
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) this Friday threatened US troops deployed in the Middle East and urged them to leave the region “immediately” or, otherwise, assured that they will be “buried under the rubble”, in addition to reporting new attacks.
In a statement released by Iranian media, the military body has announced the launch of a new wave of missiles within the operation called Sadeq Promise 4, directed against Israeli and American targets. According to the IRGC, the 44th wave of said operation included an “intense barrage” of Kheibar Shekan missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles developed by Iran with one-ton warheads, against what it described as targets of the “Zionist occupier.”
The statement ensures that several points in West Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Eilat, in Israel, were hit during the attack, which Tehran linked to the commemoration of dead fighters and the proximity of Al Quds Day, an annual day of support for the Palestinian cause celebrated on March 13.
The Revolutionary Guard also claimed to have attacked US military installations in the region, including the Muwafaq al-Salti air base in Jordan, as well as other positions in Manama (capital of Bahrain) and Erbil (in Kurdistan, northern Iraq), using missiles and drones.
Likewise, he maintained that air defense systems of the so-called “resistance front” shot down a US tanker plane while it was refueling a fighter, causing the death of six crew members. However, the United States Army Central Command reported on Thursday that a KC-135 tanker plane suffered an accident in western Iraq while participating in operations related to the offensive against Iran and assured that the accident “was not due to hostile fire or friendly fire.” The incident occurs in the middle of the second week of bombing by the United States and Israel against Iran, in a conflict that has raised tension throughout the Middle East.
