Lack of recognition can lead to burnout, say Kalil and guests

A burnout syndromeor professional burnout syndromeis an emotional disorder characterized by symptoms such as physical and mental exhaustion, high blood pressure, fatigue and work-related difficulties in concentrating. The condition is recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) as an occupational phenomenon in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).

According to invited experts from “CNN Vital Signs – Dr. Kalil Interview“, which will be shown this Saturday (14), among the main triggers for the condition are factors such as lack of recognition, a feeling of injustice and constant pressure in the workplace.

The topic is discussed by doctors Rodrigo Bressan and Gustavo Estanislau, from the Federal University of São Paulo and the Ame Sua Mente Institute, respectively.

Insomnia, irritability and are among the warning signs for burnout. Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Health, the condition can lead to symptoms such as:

  • Frequent headache;
  • Changes in appetite;
  • Feelings of failure;
  • Change in heartbeat;
  • Muscle pain;
  • Insulation;
  • High blood pressure;
  • Gastrointestinal problems.

Social media, hyperconnectivity and the culture of productivity also contribute to burnout, according to experts invited by Dr. Kalil.

The main forms of treatment, as well as preventive methods, are also discussed throughout the program. Early diagnosis, adequate sleep and healthier work environments are highlighted as important measures to avoid physical and mental exhaustion.
