Its purple color pleases the eye and the senses all summer long, and everyone who grows it wants to do everything to ensure that it blooms wonderfully in the summer. That’s why, in spring, prepare it properly for flowering. Thanks to this, in the summer we will have a purple carpet of flowers under the windows of our house. One of the treatments that is worth doing in March is the use of lavender fertilizer, which will not only support flowering, but will also make the purple flowers smell much more intensely. Homemade lavender fertilizer will enhance its scent
To prepare, you need egg shells. Just boil the eggs in unsalted water, peel them, crush the shells and pour water over them. After a few days, the fertilizer is ready for use. Sprinkle it over the lavender tufts and mix it with the top layer of soil. Eggshells are rich in calcium, iron, silicon, sulfur and zinc, which support the growth of plants, their flowering and strengthen them, and therefore lavender smells much more intensely than usual in the summer. Eggshell fertilizer also helps regulate the acidity of the soil and the pH of plants.

Another important care procedure for lavender is spring pruning. Such cutting of lavender should be carried out if it was not done in the fall. During this procedure, you need to remember a few rules that will not only make the task more efficient, but will also not damage the plant. The best time for cutting is early spring, when the risk of frost has passed and the first small leaves will appear on the lavender. Be sure to use sharp secateurs or garden shears to cut lavender. Blunt tools can damage the shoots and increase the risk of infection. First, remove any damaged, diseased or dead shoots. And shorten the remaining shoots by about 1/3 of their length, cutting just above the place where new leaves grow. When cutting, try to give the plant a compact, spherical shape.
