At the Trevi Fountain you finally don’t have to climb on your feet anymore

First of all, the good news for visitors to Rome: If you want, you can still visit the Trevi Fountain for free – since the only thing that has been chargeable since the beginning of February is the slightly lowered, staircase-like area directly next to the famous, late baroque water feature. Otherwise, the piazza in the heart of the old town with its ice cream parlors, cafés and souvenir shops is still freely accessible – including a view of the fountain. What is no longer possible without a ticket is the immediate location for the selfie directly from the edge of the fountain and throwing a coin over the back into the light blue water. According to legend, the latter guarantees visitors to Rome that they will return to the Eternal City at some point in their lives.
