Governor and pre-candidate for President says that vice will continue the political project in the State after he leaves office
The governor of Goiás and pre-candidate for the Presidency, (PSD), said this Saturday (14 March 2026) that the vice-governor, (MDB), will win the election for the State government in the 1st round. The statement was made at an event held in Jaraguá, Goiás.
Caiado will step down as governor at the end of this month. He is a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. At this Saturday’s event (14 March), he stated that his political project will continue in the State.
“Let’s go step by step. The 1st step is the launch of our governor Daniel Vilela, who takes office on the 31st and goes to campaign”he declared, according to the newspaper.
“Daniel Vilela will win in the 1st round, just like I won in the two elections I contested”he stated.
The event marks Caiado’s official affiliation with the PSD. On January 27, 2026, the governor announced his . The head of the Executive of Goiás decided to join the party after internal impasses in the party led by made his candidacy for President unfeasible.
In the PSD, however, Caiado competes with the governors of Rio Grande do Sul, (PSD), and Paraná, (PSD), both pre-candidates for the Planalto.
Upon arriving at the event this Saturday (14th March), Caiado declared that the 3 PSDB pre-candidates “have a moral commitment” so that those who are not chosen are alongside the party’s candidate for the Planalto. “This has already been resolved”he stated.
In a note published on social media on Friday (13 March), Kassab once again said that the choice of the party’s candidate regarding who will contest the election for the Planalto has not yet been made.
“For some time now, the party has decided on its own candidacy for president of the Republic, something that has been built by the governor of Paraná Ratinho Junior, by the governor of Rio Grande do Sul Eduardo Leite, who joined in May 2025, and received a new ally in January with the announcement of Caiado’s arrival to the party”he declared.
“The candidate has not yet been chosen. The PSD will announce by the end of March who will take these proposals as an alternative to polarization, which dominates and paralyzes Brazilian politics and administration with themes that contribute little to solving Brazil’s most urgent demands”these.

When speaking to journalists, Caiado said that he delivers to the population “another” State.
“It’s another Goiás, it’s another reality, it’s another self-esteem, it’s another security, it’s another education, it’s other social programs, it’s another internalized health project, it’s another infrastructure process, the advancement of technology, the arrival of businesspeople from the State, the national and international enhancement of Goiás”he declared, according to the newspaper.
“This transformation cannot be carried out without the ruler also having seriousness, honesty, transparency and courage to implement changes as a life example”said Caiado.
