Orbán warns against the “war economy” of Brussels. He promises the Hungarians fateful elections and an island of safety

Viktor Orbán described the April parliamentary elections as a difficult and fateful choice. He promises to keep Hungary as an island of safety even during the war in Ukraine.

Hungarians will decide on April 12 in the parliamentary elections, it will be a difficult and important election. This was announced on Sunday by Hungarian Prime Minister and Fidesz party leader Viktor Orbán in a speech at the celebration of the Hungarian national holiday of the outbreak of the anti-Habsburg revolution in 1848-1849. This is reported by the TASR correspondent in Budapest.

  • Hungarians will decide on the future of the country in parliamentary elections on April 12.
  • Viktor Orbán described the coming times as difficult for the war economy of Brussels.
  • Orbán predicts the entry of Western troops into Ukraine and promises to protect Hungary.

Orbán claims that difficult times are coming because Brussels took the Ukrainian war upon itself and switched to a war economy. “We are facing a test the likes of which even old warriors like me have never experienced,” he noted.

Ukraine and security

The Prime Minister expressed his belief that “Western” soldiers will enter Ukrainian soil. “We have to protect ourselves from this, even under such circumstances, I am committed to preserving Hungary as an island of safety and peace,” Orbán emphasized to the crowd gathered in the packed Kossuth Square, adding that “Hungarians will not die for Ukraine, but will live for Hungary.”

“We will choose our fate in 28 days. I too was faced with a decision. I stood before him when, as young men, we sent the Soviets home. And I stood before him when, as prime minister, I said no to migration to the Germans. And I stood before him when I said no to migration to Brussels. Me, or (Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr) Zelensky? I offer myself with appropriate modesty,” the prime minister said.

Fidesz’s plans after the elections

The prime minister says that if Fidesz wins the election, wages and low energy prices will remain, families will win, and those who will not vote for Fidesz will also win. “This is our winning plan,” added Orbán.
