In an area already very devastated by war, this time a sandstorm appeared, the strongest in the last five years.
Those displaced from Gaza had an even more complicated weekend, due to a sandstorm, the strongest over the last 5 years.
The sky turned orange; a dense cloud of orange dust took over the landscape in the enclave.
The Interior Ministry advised Palestinians to stay at home, especially those with respiratory illnesses. And he also warned that it was better to secure the tents well, because of the strong wind.
Even so, many tents couldn’t hold.

Most of Gaza’s 2 million people are now displaced; lives in tents or damaged buildings.
“Honestly, our life has become a real Calvary. A strong gust of wind came up, I swear it’s unbearable. Every time there is a gust of wind, the tents collapse, we suffer,” said Mouhamed Abu Habbid, a displaced person.
“How are we going to sleep? How are we going to live? How are we going to make it? How are we going to shower or use the toilet facilities?”, he asked.
“Honestly, I don’t know how we are going to take a shower. The bathrooms have collapsed, so have the tents. And our whole life has collapsed: the tents are our only shelter, and without a tent, we have nothing,” lamented Mouhamed.
Sandstorms are natural events; A huge amount of sand, or dust, is “blown violently and to great heights” by strong, turbulent winds, and can travel thousands of kilometers away, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
