Brazil is out of the Women’s Basketball World Cup and has accumulated its third consecutive absence from the competition. This Tuesday morning (17), the team lost to China 83-71, in Wuhan, and ended its participation in the Pre-World Cup without a place.
Even with 26 points from Damiris Dantas, the Brazilian team suffered from a third quarter below expectations, when they were outscored 23 to 12. The performance compromised the final result, despite the balance in other periods of the match.
In the confrontation, China took advantage in the first quarter (21 to 17), while the second ended in a draw at 25 to 25. The third period defined the course of the game, and Brazil only won the last quarter by 17 to 14, without being able to reverse the difference in the score.
With the result, Brazil finished in fifth place in Group A, with two wins and three defeats. The campaign was the same as that of the Czech Republic, which advanced after winning the direct confrontation and securing the last available spot.
A still had a chance of qualifying even with defeat, as long as South Sudan beat Mali or the Czech Republic were defeated by Belgium. None of the scenarios were confirmed.
