About three weeks after the start of the war and after several turbulent trading days on the international crude oil exchanges, the governing parties ÖVP, SPÖ and Neos reportedly agreed on the design of a fuel price cap. Last week, a first fundamental decision was made according to which the government wants to skim excess profits as a result of the war in the petroleum sector. This should affect both the state and the oil industry.
