Bomb on the border with Ecuador comes from the Ecuadorian Army, confirms Petro

The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, confirmed this Wednesday (18) that the bomb found near the border with Ecuador belongs to the Ecuadorian Army.

In a post on the social network X, Petro stated: “The investigation continues and a note of diplomatic protest will be issued.”

On Tuesday (17), attacks in the border region left . “I did not give orders for these attacks,” said Petro, highlighting that the actions were not carried out by Colombian security forces.

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, stated that the attacks took place within Ecuadorian territory and targeted criminal groups linked to drug trafficking.

Gustavo Petro’s accusation comes amid a diplomatic crisis with Ecuador, after Noboa announced the charge of a “charge on Colombian products.

The Ecuadorian government justified the measure by citing a trade deficit and lack of cooperation in combating drug trafficking, allegations denied by Petro’s administration.

In response, Colombia said it would suspend electricity supplies to the neighboring country and announced the application of a 30% tariff on 20 Ecuadorian products.
