AtlasIntel survey shows that the current governor of the State appears ahead in the 1st and 2nd round simulations
A survey released by AtlasIntel this Wednesday (March 18, 2026) shows that the current governor of Piauí, Rafael Fonteles (PT), leads in the 2 first-round scenarios tested for the State government.
In the 1st scenario, Fonteles appears with 57.7% of voting intentions, followed by former federal deputy Margarete Coelho (PP-PI), with 14%, Toni Rodrigues (PL), with 7.9%, and Tonny Kerley (Novo), with 3.5%. Also scoring are Mainha (Podemos), with 1.2%, Lourdes Melo (PCO), with 0.8%, and Lúcia Santos (PSDB), with 0.3%. Blank and invalid votes totaled 9.1%, while 5.5% were unable to respond.
In another scenario, without the presence of Margarete Coelho, Fonteles records 56.0%, followed by Joel Rodrigues (PP), with 29.8%. Next come Toni Rodrigues, with 2.6%, Tonny Kerley, with 2.3%, Lúcia Santos, with 1.1%, Lourdes Melo, with 0.7%, and Mainha, also with 0.7%.

AtlasIntel interviewed 1,208 voters in the State of Piauí from March 11 to 15, 2026. The survey has a margin of error of 3 percentage points, plus or minus, and a confidence level of 95%. The survey is registered with the TSE under number PI-06908/2026, cost R$75,000 and was paid for with its own resources.
2ND ROUND SCENARIOS
The research also tested 2nd round scenarios. In a possible confrontation with Joel Rodrigues, Fonteles registers 57% of voting intentions, compared to 36% for the PP pre-candidate. Against Margarete Coelho, the governor has 60%, compared to 24% for his opponent.
In a 2nd round against Toni Rodrigues, Fonteles has 62% of voting intentions, compared to 22% for the PL pre-candidate. In a scenario against Mainha, the governor registers 63%, while his opponent has 15%.

ELECTIONS TO THE SENATE
The survey also gauged voting intentions for the Senate. Senator Marcelo Castro (MDB-PI) leads with 24.5%, followed by deputy Júlio César (PSD-PI), with 17.9%, Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), with 17.7%, Tiago Junqueira (PL), with 6.4%, Francinaldo Leão (Psol), with 3%, Pedro Laurentino (UP), with 1.6%, and Jorge Lopes (PSDB), with 0.8%. Blank and invalid votes totaled 16.4%, while 11.6% were unable to respond.
