The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated this Thursday, 19th, that the war in Iran will end faster than people expect, at a press conference this afternoon. However, the Prime Minister said that he will not set a deadline, considering that there are still objectives that need to be achieved, without detailing what they would be.
“I will not go into details about our military operations,” he stressed. “But we are winning the war and Iran is being destroyed”
Netanyahu justified the conflict by saying that Iran had terrorized the US and Israel for decades, and that the possibility of Iranian nuclear weapons posed a much greater risk to oil markets than the current conflict.
For him, energy transport must change as a result of the war against Iran, and must no longer pass mainly through the Strait of Hormuz. “We need more pipelines heading west through the Arabian Peninsula, and that is very possible. I believe that is a change that we will see with this war,” he said.
Netanyahu further denied that the United States was pulled into fighting a war on Israel’s behalf. “We are fighting together,” he said, adding that it would be ridiculous to say otherwise, considering that both have a common goal. “I didn’t need to convince Donald Trump about anything. He is a good leader and makes his own decisions. No ally is as coordinated as Trump and I are”
The Israeli prime minister cited how Trump has been convinced since his first term that Iran should not have nuclear weapons, and still held this thought before being elected again to the White House. “I visited him in Mar a Lago before his election, and he told me ‘Bibi, we have to guarantee that Iran will not have nuclear weapons’”, he recalled, also mentioning that Tehran had tried to kill the Republican “not just once, but twice”.
