“Are there men here or not?”: Moscow University recruits students for war

Moscow State University is recruiting students for Ukraine. “Now we don’t know how this will end.”

There were already signs of this type in other universities, and a patriotic doctrine even arrived, preparing children to defend Russia in the future, in the event of war.

But now recruitment for the war with Ukraine has reached Moscow State University (MGU), the main university in Russia, and the oldest.

MGU officials began to invite young people to meetings. At these meetings, they talk about the possibility of signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. There are also announcements in the corridors inviting university students to join military service, with a contract. Most go to war to operate drones.

The idea is to capture mainly students who have not passed certain exams and are in a difficult situation.

The case was revealed by “Idite lesom”, a human rights project: it is the rector, Sadovnichy, who organizes the meetings.

Anastasia saw her 19-year-old son enter that university. And now… “We were so eager to enter Moscow State University, we were so happy with Leonid’s admission, and now We don’t know how this will end for him.”

Now, he is seriously thinking about “sending his son away”, quotes .

Anastasia and her son thought that “militarist feelings would bypass the most prestigious university in the country, where it is so difficult to enter”.

At another university, Voronezh State Engineering Technologies, the dean of the Faculty of Management and Informatics, Alexei Skrypnikov, was caught in a bullying speech.

In the video, he tells university students to imagine their family members being raped – to convince them to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense.

“Are there men in the room or not? No? I’m ashamed of you! I’m ashamed of you! Take off your pants, put on skirts and put bows on your head”, says the dean.

At the Ufa University of Science and Technology, students leave classes to speak to the rector. Then, they hear that there is a “duty to defend the homeland” – and are tempted to operate drones against Ukraine. Some have already accepted.
