The state of Upper Austria, the federal government and the ÖBB are intensifying their negotiations about the future of the Mühlkreisbahn. The aim is for the country to take over. Takeover plans for the Almtalbahn and the Hausruckbahn are off the table. These connections remain with ÖBB. Its continuation is guaranteed until 2033. A corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday.
