The senator (PL-RJ) repeated a promise made by President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) and stated this Tuesday (24) that he will create the Ministry of Public Security if he is elected president of the Republic in the October elections.
Flávio made the statement in a video published on social media alongside the federal deputy (-SP), former secretary of Public Security in the government () and who will be a candidate for the Senate.
“Derrite brought me some proposals on public security that we will analyze very carefully. Our convergence is total on this subject and, as there are many people asking about ministers and ministries, I want to announce here a public commitment that there will be a permanent ministry of public security for the first time in the history of Brazil”, he declared.
According to the senator, the department will be created to have “integration between all forces, whether federal, state and municipal, investment in technology, data sharing, better protection of our borders and technical cooperation with other countries to combat terrorist organizations”.
The same promise to dismember the ministry was made by Lula during the 2022 electoral campaign. Today, the area of public security is within the Justice department, commanded by Wellington César Lima e Silva.
