Jair Bolsonaro’s defense questioned the temporary house arrest given to the former Brazilian President and stressed that “the special conditions and needs” of the former head of state are “for life”.
“The ‘temporary’ form of house arrest is singularly innovative, and we cannot lose sight of the fact that, regrettably, the special conditions and needs that the President demands are permanent”, indicated the defense team of the former head of state, sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for undermining the democratic rule of law.
For this reason, the “level of care therefore will be needed for life”he justified, adding that the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) was “granted only and only after a sequence of five requests”.
The eldest son, senator Flávio Bolsonaro, and pre-candidate for the October presidential elections, also criticized judge Alexandre de Moraes’ decision:
“If his health improves at home, will he return to the place where his health was worsening?”, he asked.
The Federal Supreme Court of Brazil authorized, on Tuesday, the house arrest for 90 days for former President Jair Bolsonaro, sentenced to more than 27 years in prison.
