The incident did not result in casualties
“The fire in the port of Ust-Luga is being brought under control,” said the governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, adding that there were no casualties. However, he did not specify which part of the port was affected. The port is an important center for Russian exports, including fertilizers, oil and coal.
At the same time, on Monday, Ukraine also hit the port of Primorsk, which is also located in the northwest of Russia near the border with Finland, while the flames engulfed the oil warehouse there.
Electricity and water outages
In the south, in the border region of Belgorod, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that after the Ukrainian missile attack, they experienced blackouts of electricity and water supplies. “Serious damage was caused to energy infrastructure facilities,” X wrote on the social network.
The Russian military said on Wednesday morning that it had shot down 389 Ukrainian drones overnight in one of its largest strikes to date. According to the statement, the main targets were the border areas with Ukraine, the Leningrad region, but also the capital Moscow.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities said that Russia sent nearly a thousand drones against Ukraine in 24 hours on Tuesday, launching one of the largest daily attacks since the start of the war in February 2022. The strikes claimed at least three lives and the drones also hit the Church of St. Andrew in Lviv, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The third round of US-brokered talks between Moscow and Kiev aimed at ending more than four years of war has been complicated by the conflict in the Middle East. Ukraine sent a delegation to Washington last weekend with the aim of reviving negotiations, but these efforts have so far yielded no results.
