Trump will attack Iran more forcefully if Tehran does not accept defeat, says White House

The United States issued a stern warning to Iran on Wednesday, saying President Donald Trump will attack the country more forcefully if Tehran does not accept that it has been “militarily defeated,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

“President Trump does not bluff and is prepared to unleash hell. Iran must not miscalculate again,” Leavitt told reporters at a news conference.

“If Iran does not accept the reality of the current moment, if it does not understand that it has been militarily defeated and will continue to be, President Trump will ensure that it is hit harder than it has ever been hit,” she said.

As the joint US-Israeli war against Iran progressed into its fourth week, there were efforts by several countries, including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt, to mediate a possible negotiation to try to end the war, but uncertainty persisted over where and when any talks would materialize.

Iran is still analyzing a US proposal to end the war despite an initial negative response, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Wednesday, indicating that Tehran has so far not rejected the proposal outright.

Talks with Iran are still ongoing, Leavitt said. “The talks continue. They are productive, as the president said on Monday, and they continue to be,” she added.
