For now, Ukrainian diplomacy denies concerns about the outflow of military aid to the Middle East. The American newspaper Washington Post reported that the Pentagon is considering whether to redirect weapons in connection with the war against Iran, which is depleting American supplies. It could be air defense missiles ordered as part of a program that allows NATO allies to buy American weapons for Kiev.
No information on weapon redirection
“We have not received any signals from NATO or the United States that the weapons allocated to Ukraine under the PURL program could be diverted to the Middle East,” Alyona Getmanchukova, head of Ukraine’s delegation to NATO, told AFP. “There have also been no indications that the war in Iran would lead to changes in the availability of weapons needed by Ukraine under the PURL,” she added-
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Thursday that Kiev is still receiving key military equipment, even as the Iran war is depleting supplies in Europe and the United States. This also applies to the American Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, which Ukraine urgently needs.
