Judiciary Police locate baby who was missing for 10 days

A two-month-old baby had been missing for 10 days, after the mother’s absence from an official social support establishment.

The investigation by the Judicial Police (PJ), which ended last Friday, the 27th, originated in a communication from the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Young People (CPCJ) of Santarém to the Public Security Police (PSP).

“A two-month-old baby” was “missing for 10 days, after his mother was absent from an official social support establishment”.

And, says the PJ, “in less than 24 hours”, mother and son were located, “both in Nazaré”.

“Faced with the identification of negligent behavior on the part of the mother, namely, the inability to provide basic care, such as hygiene, food and clothing and, also, the existence of aggressive reactions on her part, which put the newborn at risk, the baby was removed from the mother and sent to an institution at Santa Casa da Misericórdia”, says the statement.

The baby is well and “under the supervision of the Children and Youth Court of Santarém, aiming to guarantee his safety, well-being and physical integrity”.
