After the auction of Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, to the Spanish company Aena, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, stated that the ministry’s priority for 2026 is to auction Brasília Airport.
According to the minister, the government’s expectation is that this auction will take place in November. Silvio Costa Filho spoke to the press, after the concession of the Rio terminal for R$2.9 billion, on B3, the Brazilian stock exchange.

Furthermore, the government also hopes to discuss the concession of Santos Dumont Airport, also in Rio de Janeiro, currently managed by the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company, Infraero.
For the minister, the Santos Dumont auction requires a prior discussion on the role of Infraero:
“We need to discuss Infraero’s institutional role. I think Infraero needs to go through a process of discussion with society, with civil servants. We need to discuss Infraero’s institutional role thinking about the near future,”
In Silvio Costa Filho’s opinion, Infraero should dedicate itself more to regional aviation: “It has an important role for Brazil, but we think it can play an even more important role if Infraero can dedicate itself to regional aviation in the coming years.”
Auction
This afternoon, the minister followed the auction of Galeão Airport, which was sold by the Spanish company Aena for R$2.9 billion. For Costa Filho, the event was a success:
“This is a very positive sign for the international market, which is increasingly seeing Brazil as a great window of opportunity to make investments. This will further consolidate Brazil’s international aviation.”
Tecon 10
After the Galeão auction, the minister told journalists that he expects the auction of the container terminal at the Port of Santos (Tecon 10), on the coast of São Paulo, to take place later this year.
“This is an auction that took more than 12 years. It went through other governments, but we hope to be able to make it viable this year. This will be the biggest auction in the history of the Brazilian port sector.”
According to him, the government’s expectation is that this event will take place between October or December.
