Impeachment of PP councilors creates conflicts for Nunes – 03/30/2026 – Panel

The imminent impeachment of the entire PP bench in the City Council will bring headaches to the mayor ().

The party, chaired by , is part of its support base and has assumed influence over the Secretariat of Urban Mobility and Transport, previously dominated by

The rapporteur of the case at the TRE (Regional Electoral Court) of São Paulo, judge Claudio Langroiva Pereira, voted to revoke the bench in a process in which the PP is accused of launching fictitious female candidates in the 2024 elections to meet the minimum gender quota.

The trial, this Thursday (26), was interrupted after a request for a hearing from the other two judges in the class. The complaint was made by the federation formed by PT, PC do B and PV, in addition to Solidariedade and councilor Paulo Frange (MDB).

The PP bench is made up of councilors Murillo Lima, Sergeant Nantes, Janaína Paschoal and Major Palumbo.

If revoked, they should give way to Frange, Adilson Amadeu (União), Manoel Del Rio (PT) and Felipe Sertanejo (PL).

Frange is close to being announced by Nunes as the secretary of the Civil House. Nunes, who wanted to count on him in the government, will dismiss Enrico Misasi (MDB) to run for the position of federal deputy this year.

“It was Frange who appealed [da improcedência da cassação]and he is being elevated to the Civil House. It is a recognition, because the Civil House is not just any secretariat, it must be given to a person close to the mayor”, says Paschoal.

“The leaders [do PP] who helped register the candidacies will go unpunished, according to the rapporteur. Those affected will only be women, who even voted more than the last person on the ticket, who is a man”, added the councilor.

The president of the PP in São Paulo, Maurício Neves, says that he received the rapporteur’s vote with surprise, but that he trusts the Electoral Court.

“The first instance court had dismissed the action as completely unfounded, concluding that all women actually campaigned and that at least 14 candidates (7 men and 7 women) in the elections for councilor received fewer votes than the party’s least voted candidate”, it says in a note.

“It is important to highlight that the last placed on the Progressistas ticket was not even a female candidate, but a man with just eight votes”, continued Neves.
