The PL works within another 30 days – until the end of April – to define the candidate for the Senate for São Paulo. The acronym has not yet finalized its name, but interlocutors told the column that the options have narrowed in recent days.
Today, former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro is preferred by federal deputy Mário Frias. The assessment within the group is that the name maintains alignment with the Bolsonarist base.
There is, however, a different reading by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). The understanding is that the vacancy needs to be filled by a name more central – a scenario in which the president of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp), André do Prado, appears. THE
such as the already pre-candidate Simone Tebet (PSB) and a possible candidacy by Marina Silva (Rede). In this design, the former secretary and federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP), who should also run for the Senate, would already be the right-wing name linked to the Bolsonarist camp.
Internally, there is disagreement about who should lead the choice. Part of the party believes that Tarcísio should have priority, as he heads the ticket in the State. The agreement, however, provides that the decision will mainly pass through Eduardo Bolsonaro and former president Jair Bolsonaro.
Until now, Bolsonaro had been defending the name of the vice-mayor of São Paulo, Mello Araújo. A meeting between the two was scheduled for the 18th, but . PL assistants claim that, despite having already been mentioned a lot, the name “didn’t stick” or “didn’t stick” with the public, which could make it appear behind in the internal dispute.
