The president (PT) confirmed this Tuesday (31) () as his vice-president for this year’s electoral dispute.
“Comrade Alckmin will have to leave Mdic [Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria, Comércio e Serviços] because he is a candidate for vice president of the Republic again”, he declared.
With this Tuesday’s statement, Lula confirms the expectation of continuing with Alckmin on his ticket and ends speculation that the vice position would be occupied by someone from the MDB as vice president.
The president’s allies, such as the president of the PT, Edinho Silva, have already stated that this, as will also happen with acronyms such as PSD.
The statements were made during Lula’s meeting with his team to reaffirm the need to defend the government’s actions. As shown by the Sheetthe guidance will be especially addressed to those running in the October elections.
At the meeting, the PT member also asked ministers who will step aside to run for public office in these elections to change the “promiscuity” present in national and international politics.
“The important thing is that you are convinced of the importance of your participation and the importance of the position you are running for and, even more so, that you are willing to enter congress, parliamentary life, to help change the promiscuity that is established in world and Brazilian politics”, he declared.
According to Lula, some will leave the government “for much more important missions in the coming months”, with candidacy for the most different positions in the Republic.
“Politics has gotten a lot worse. Today there are still a lot of serious people, who practice politics with a capital P, but the truth is that, in many cases, politics has become a business. Those who are running as candidates know: positions have a very high price,” said Lula.
“Today we have reached a situation where some institutions are being degraded. Hence the need for you to be candidates, because it is possible to change and it will only change if you convince the people that they, and only they, are capable of changing the political situation.”
In this farewell, Lula recommended defending his government, in addition to thanking the ministers for their work. About to leave the government to run for the Senate in Bahia, the head of the Civil House, (PT), takes stock of his achievements.
According to the president’s assistants, the idea of the meeting is also to provide colleagues with deliveries from the entire Esplanada, and not just their portfolios. Thus, the ministers will have an overview of the management to combat Bolsonarism in their regions — (PL) should be the PT’s main opponent in the dispute.
“I made the decision not to appoint a new minister. We have a machine that has been working for three years and three months. I don’t want any ministry to start all over again. There is no new government plan. We have a lot of things to complete by December 31st, and the obligation of those who remain is to complete it, to ensure that the machine remains without any downtime. We have confidence in the team that you have assembled and that you will leave working”, he also said.
