The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, said, during the 1st interministerial meeting of 2026, that he intends end the current format of the Income Tax (IR) declaration and make it only necessary to validate the information. The meeting took place at Palácio do Planalto, on Tuesday morning (31).

Durigan explained that the idea is present an existing evolution of the pre-filled IR declaration in which the citizen only has to authenticate the information placed in the system by companies.

“What I have asked the IRS is that we no longer need to declare Income Tax. As we have a computerized country, information from banks, companies, health plans, all of this is being placed in the system and the person would only have to validate it”, explained the minister.

The pre-filled declaration is a model offered by the Federal Revenue Service that It already comes with a lot of information automatically filled in, without the need for typingsuch as income, assets, debts and medical expenses. To opt for the pre-filled declaration, you must have a silver or gold level account on “gov.br”.

The minister concluded by saying that it is necessary “moving towards a country with less bureaucracy” starting from a “more efficient and innovative” economy.
