France beefs up security in Paris after foiled attack on BofA offices

PARIS, April 2 (Reuters) – France has stepped up security measures across the Paris region amid an environment of heightened international threats, the Paris police authority said in a statement to Reuters on Thursday, citing rising tensions and a heightened level of ‘terrorist threat’.

Police have stepped up protection around religious and cultural sites, diplomatic facilities and important economic interests linked to potentially targeted entities, he said, following a botched attack on the Bank of America offices in Paris on March 28.

Police presence and surveillance have been increased throughout ⁠the Paris metropolitan area ⁠as part of efforts to prevent new threats, the official added.
