PARIS, April 2 (Reuters) – France has stepped up security measures across the Paris region amid an environment of heightened international threats, the Paris police authority said in a statement to Reuters on Thursday, citing rising tensions and a heightened level of ‘terrorist threat’.
Police have stepped up protection around religious and cultural sites, diplomatic facilities and important economic interests linked to potentially targeted entities, he said, following a botched attack on the Bank of America offices in Paris on March 28.
Police presence and surveillance have been increased throughout the Paris metropolitan area as part of efforts to prevent new threats, the official added.
