Pope Leo XIV warns that the world is experiencing "a dark hour in history"

At the Confirmation Mass, Leo XIV asked the priests, who renewed their vows this Thursday, to practice detachment and work for peace.

At the Confirmation Mass, in St. Peter’s Basilica, in Rome, Pope Leo XIV highlighted this Thursday, three secrets of the Christian mission, detachment, encounter and rejectionurging bishops and priests to lose their fear of rejection and take the word of Christ literally.

In the celebration where priestly promises are renewed and the holy oils used in Baptism, Confirmation and Anointing of the Sick are blessed, Leo XIV reminded them that renewing their “yes” to Christ requires unity to bring peace.

In the homily of this Holy Thursday, the Pope reminded the priests that it is part of the mission not to run away and go through the ordeal.

Leo XIV shared those he considers to be the three secrets of the Christian mission, detachment, encounter and rejection.

Without addressing any particular conflict, the Pope referred to the current situation as “a dark hour in history”to urge missionaries to spread the message of Christ wherever the odor of death reigns.
