President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sanctioned last Thursday (2) Law 15.374/26, which creates commissioned positions and functions in the Electoral Court. According to the standard, 474 permanent positions will be created (232 judicial analysts and 242 judicial technicians), in addition to 75 commission positions and 245 commissioned positions.
117 positions and functions will be allocated to the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) of the Federal District and 85 to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The rest will be distributed by TREs in the States.
The TSE was approached by the Estadão to inform about the filling of vacancies, but did not respond until the publication of this text. The space remains open.
The initial text, proposed in 2024 by the TSE, estimates an annualized budget impact of R$109.4 million. The resulting expenses will be borne by the courts’ budget allocations. Furthermore, the law conditions its financial effects to authorization in budgetary laws.
According to the Court, these resources will serve to meet the need for personnel due to the increase in voters, candidacies and judicial and extrajudicial processes.
The rule originates from Bill 4/24, presented by the TSE and approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate.

According to the TSE, the new positions will contribute to ensuring the security of electronic voting machines, combating fake news and complying with guidelines from the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
