US President Donald Trump published a post on his social network Truth Social on Tuesday that appears to refer to an ultimatum set for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. During the Easter holidays, Trump gave Iran an ultimatum to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday (2:00 a.m. CEST on Wednesday). Otherwise, he threatened to unleash “hell”.
“An entire civilization will die tonight, never to come back. I don’t want it to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have a complete regime change where other, more intelligent and less radicalized views prevail, maybe something revolutionary wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We’ll find out tonight,” Trump wrote.
“Forty-seven years of extortion, corruption and death will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran!” concluded the head of the White House. Trump did not provide further details, but has previously said the US military could bomb bridges, power plants and other civilian infrastructure in Iran and plunge the country into the “Stone Age”.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned on Tuesday that if the United States crosses “red lines,” it will respond with attacks outside the Middle East, depriving the United States and its allies of access to oil and gas for years. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
“The Revolutionary Guards declare again that if the American terrorist army crosses the red lines, our response will go beyond the region,” the guards said in a statement carried by Iranian state television. An ideological branch of Iran’s military says it will then target the infrastructure to “deny the United States and its allies access to oil and gas in the region for years to come.”
“America’s regional partners should also know that until now, in order to maintain good neighborly relations, we have shown great restraint and had some reservations in choosing targets for retaliatory strikes, but all these reservations have already been removed,” they added.
