A young man († 21) returned from a vacation in Greece with a strange feeling: In a few months, his family was preparing his funeral!

Police officer James Mann († 21) returned from vacation in June 2025 with a strange feeling of imbalance, but the doctor repeatedly told him that it was just ordinary dizziness. The young Briton had to stop driving, he leaned on the walls while walking, but he waited months for a professional examination, the portal reports.

In November 2025, at the urging of his mother Dianne, he underwent an MRI which revealed a massive brain tumor. Dianne recalls that at that moment, their world simply collapsed. James had to undergo immediate surgery to relieve the pressure in his skull. Doctors managed to remove 70% of the tumor, but a diagnosis of an aggressive grade four glioma gave the family little hope.

James battled both infections and seizures and spent five days in a coma. Dianne recalled that, in typical fashion, he decided he’d had enough and tried to sit down himself. Although he was discharged home in December, due to his persistent weakness, doctors could not place him on another oncological treatment that could prolong his life.

But a scan in January gave the family what they described as devastating news. “The oncologist said she was very sorry, but the tumor had grown completely in less than four weeks,” Dianne stated. Doctors estimated that the young man only had a few weeks left, which James used to give his siblings a detailed plan of how they should continue to live without him.

James’s condition finally deteriorated sharply and he died at home on January 30, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. “We did what we always did as a family, we were together all the time,” Dianne explained. At his funeral, 150 people gathered to honor the memory of the young policeman, who for many was the embodiment of strength and goodness.

Today, the family is raising funds for brain tumor research so that others do not have to go through the same hell. Dianne adheres to the family motto of trying to make something good out of every bad thing. “We honor that belief in the best way we can, which is to try to keep James alive the only way we can right now.” she concluded.
