Police intervention on the R1 expressway near Nitra prevented a tragedy in which a 31-year-old man could have lost his life. On the expressway after the Nitra exit – exit towards Banská Bystrica, where it was supposed to be to find a man in a difficult life situation, all rescue services intervened in the early hours of Thursday, informed the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Nitra.

After arriving at the scene, the police officers observed a Toyota Avensis vehicle, which no one was inside, near the guardrails. Subsequently, they saw a man whose life was in danger at the height. The man was supposed to climb the anti-noise wall and wanted to jump from it. He refused to communicate with the police patrol.
He was on point a police negotiator was called in and managed to establish contact with the man and gain his trust. This step led to the calming down of the whole situation, the police stated. Subsequently, the man was handed over to the care of paramedics.
