The new Hungarian leader wants a big turnaround in the region. Tisza plans to combine V4 with the Slavkov format and expand the block

The Tisza party with a constitutional majority wants to change the Central European cooperation map. Magyar suggests a new block connecting V4, the Slavkov format and other states.

The government of the Hungarian Tisza party would like to strengthen the cooperation of the countries of the Vyšehrad Four (V4) – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. This was said on Monday at a press conference by the chairman of the Tisza party, Péter Magyar, whose party won a constitutional majority in the National Assembly in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, according to the incomplete results, the TASR correspondent in Budapest reports.

  • The Hungarian party Tisza won the constitutional majority of mandates in the parliamentary elections.
  • Péter Magyar as the leader of Tisza wants to strengthen the cooperation of the Visegrad Four countries.
  • Magyar plans to expand the existing cooperation of the Vyšehrad Four at the appropriate opportunity.

Magyar emphasized that his intention is – if there is a will and an opportunity – to expand V4 cooperation.

Connecting regions

“There is the Slavkov format (a platform for the cooperation of the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia) and the Vyšehrad Four, which could join together, merge, and we could even invite other EU member states: Slovenia and Croatia,” said President Tiszy.

As he added, he would very much like a strong Central Europe within a strong European Union with all the benefits that result from this, such as economic and cultural cooperation or infrastructure connections.
