Berlin – Axel Springer has overcome an important hurdle in purchasing the traditional British newspaper “Telegraph”. The British Ministry for Culture, Media and Sport gave the green light after a comprehensive review, the Berlin publisher announced on Tuesday. Authorities from Ireland and Austria would now have to approve the deal, but this is considered likely in the industry. Completion is expected in the current second quarter.
