Antonio Costa strongly condemned the Russian attacks, the European Union promises further support to Ukraine

The head of the European Council, António Costa, strongly condemned the massive Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and emphasized that the Union will continue to support Kiev in its defense.

On Thursday, the President of the European Council António Costa strongly condemned the latest Russian attacks on several large cities of Ukraine and promised the continued support of the European Union for Kyiv, reports TASR.

“Overnight, Russia launched another heinous attack on civilian targets in Ukraine. While people slept in their homes, the cities of Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa and Kharkiv were hit by dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones,” Costa wrote on the X social network.

He also accused Russian forces of targeting rescuers after they arrived at the sites. “Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has failed, which is why Russia has decided to deliberately terrorize civilians… Russia must end this war of terror,” he stressed. At the same time, Costa pointed out the need to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law. According to him, the EU will continue to increase pressure on Russia and continue to support Ukraine in its defense.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Thursday morning that it had destroyed 31 Russian missiles and 636 drones in the past 24 hours. According to his data, Russia launched two waves of combined attacks, firing a total of 44 missiles and nearly 700 drones. At least 16 people were killed in the strikes.
