Patrícia Reis launched “The Last Lesson of Álvaro Siza Vieira”. The book is the result of a conversation about the life and thoughts of one of the greatest figures in contemporary architecture in the world.
Childhood in Matosinhos, international recognition with, for example, the distinction with a Pritzker Prize and works of worship, such as the Marco de Canaveses Church, are some of the topics covered.
In conversation with the program Cartaz, the writer told how Siza Vieira “wrongly chose architecture, because he actually wanted sculpture”. And the process of making the book included several trips to Porto, which the architect fit into his daily tasks. “Álvaro Siza Vieira is 92 years old and has a hellish schedule”, explains the writer.
Recently, Patrícia Reis also released a novel. “The Place of Uncertainty”is a story that crosses two characters who use active listening in their profession: a priest and a psychiatrist.
The two books were the subject of a conversation on Cartaz, SIC’s Culture program.
O is shown on SIC, on Thursdays, shortly after 2 am.
