Our country is full of little-known corners that deserve attention. They are often places far from large urban centers, where nature and engineering intersect in surprising ways. In the northeast of Portugal there is a bridge that symbolizes this connection: imposing, balanced and framed by a landscape considered to be of great beauty, according to the blog.
About two hours from Porto, between the municipalities of Mogadouro and Alfândega da Fé, is the Sardão-Meirinhos Bridge. It is seen by many inhabitants as one of the most impressive crossings in the country, as she mentions.

With the construction of the Baixo Sabor Dam, part of the pillars were submerged. The intervention required detailed planning and the use of innovative materials, and is currently touted as an example of effective engineering in a demanding natural environment.
A landscape that surprises
What further distinguishes this bridge in the North of Portugal is the way it integrates with the surrounding scenery. Surrounded by hills, mountain vegetation and the course of the river, it offers high-impact views, especially on clear days.

Accidents that were not forgotten
Despite its relevance, the construction of the Sardão-Meirinhos Bridge was marked by two fatal accidents. In one of the episodes, a 20-year-old young man, from Cinfães, fell from a height of more than 30 meters. The incident led to the temporary interruption of work and the review of safety standards at the construction site. The tragedy had a strong impact on the community involved in the work.
