Iran’s military says restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz are being reimposed, alleging “repeated violations of trust” by the United States in the two sides’ ceasefire.
On Friday (17), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on
United States President Donald Trump in force until a full agreement was reached with Tehran.
It is unclear when and where the two sides might meet again after the collapse of a first round of talks last weekend.
An Iranian military spokesman said Tehran had allowed “a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships” to pass through the strait.
“But unfortunately, the Americans, with their repeated breaches of trust that are part of their record, continue to engage in piracy and maritime robbery under the so-called blockade title,” the spokesman said, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
Control of the strait was again “under the strict management and control of the military” until the United States finished its supply of ships leaving and destined for Iranian ports, he said.
