Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) presents satisfactory clinical evolution and slight improvement in his left lung, according to a medical report sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) this Friday, 17th. Despite the improvement, physiotherapeutic reports indicate that he still presents episodes of pain and muscle fatigue during treatment.
The former president had humanitarian house arrest granted for 90 days by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, for his recovery, after being discharged from the hospital. Last month, he was diagnosed with “bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia of probable aspiration origin” and had to be admitted to intensive care for two weeks.
The reports were sent by Bolsonaro’s defense to the STF. In this Friday’s document, doctor Brasil Caiado, from Bolsonaro’s health team, reported that he is responding positively to the treatment. According to the cardiologist, Bolsonaro’s blood pressure is under control, but he still complains of fatigue and tiredness, as well as “imbalance”, due to medications.
“The patient presents good evolution in his lung and digestive condition, reports improvement in complaints of dyspnea, tiredness and gastroesophageal reflux, with greater physical disposition to carry out routine daily activities”, writes the doctor. “Due to the central action of medications indicated for hiccups, resulting in loss of balance, we opted to adjust the dosage and reduce daily doses, with a satisfactory response so far.”
In addition to the medical report, the defense also sent the physiotherapeutic report, signed by Kleber Caiado de Freitas. The professional states that last Monday, the 12th, Bolsonaro had a crisis of approximately eight hours of hiccups, which made it difficult to carry out physiotherapy.
“During execution, halfway through the proposed exercises, the patient began to report severe muscle fatigue, increased tension and pain in the dorsal region, a condition associated with a previous episode of approximately eight hours of hiccups”, writes the physiotherapist.

He recommended continuing physiotherapeutic monitoring, “with controlled progression of loads and maintenance of pain control, mobility and pre-operative preparation strategies”.
Bolsonaro’s defense has already informed the STF that there is an indication for the former president to undergo surgery to treat pain in his right shoulder. This week, the former president received a visit from an orthopedist, who prescribed painkillers and assessed the pain. Services have been held at the former president’s residence since March 30th.
