His confidence that the agreement with Iran will “today” in Pakistan was expressed by . The US president spoke to Fox News and appeared confident both in holding the negotiations and in signing an agreement.
The New York Post reports that Vice President Jay D. Vance and the rest of the US delegation are expected to land in Pakistan within the next few hours for talks on Iran.
“Talks are supposed to happen,” Trump said. “That’s why I guess, at this stage, nobody’s playing games.”
The US president told the Post that the US delegation – which also includes envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law/advisor Jared Kushner – is heading to Islamabad, despite Tehran saying it has “no plans for the next round” of peace talks.
“They’re headed there now,” said Donald Trump. “They will get there tonight (Islamabad) time.” He hinted that he would be prepared to meet top Iranian leaders if significant progress was made in the negotiations.
Vance left Islamabad last Sunday after 21 hours of failed peace talks with Iranian officials. He attributed the failure to Iran’s “obvious refusal to give up its nuclear weapons program,” while Iranian officials claimed the “US needs to do more to earn their trust.”
“I have always believed that Iran should not get a nuclear weapon”
A few hours after these statements, Donald Trump made a post. In it he denied that Israel influenced him to carry out the strikes against Iran. At the same time, he attacked the media and talked about lies and fabricated stories.
“Israel never convinced me to support war with Iran; the results of October 7 did, which reinforced my long-held belief that IRAN SHOULD NEVER GET A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I watch and read fake news “experts” and polls with utter disbelief.
90% of what they say is lies and made up stories, and the polls are rigged, just like the 2020 presidential election was rigged. Just like the results in Venezuela, which the media doesn’t want to talk about, the results in Iran will be amazing – and if Iran’s new leaders (Regime Change!) are smart, Iran can have a bright and prosperous future!” states in his post.
Unmoved Iran for not participating in the negotiations
In response to Trump’s statements, but also to the publications about the resumption of negotiations, the Tansim agency claims that Iran “insists on its decision to stay away from the talks”, as the naval blockade by the US, as well as the excessive demands, are the main problems.
In this context, it is worth noting that according to Reuters, contrary to what Trump said that the team of US negotiators is on its way to Pakistan, Jay D. Vance remains in the US and has not left for Islamabad.
