Workers from the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) organized a Christmas solidarity initiative to bring smiles to 50 children and teenagers in care. The action consisted of collecting individual donations that made it possible to deliver gifts to the Shelters of the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Social Welfare Center, in Olhão, and to Lar Bom Samaritano, in Alvor, Portimão.

The Nossa Senhora de Fátima Social Wellbeing Center welcomes girls from families in vulnerable situations, ensuring an environment that promotes their physical, moral and spiritual development, preparing them for a more dignified future. On the other hand, Lar Bom Samaritano is dedicated to supporting children and young people at risk, guaranteeing them a safe and educational space where they can grow and prosper.

With this initiative, employees not only reinforced the spirit of solidarity associated with the Christmas season, but also highlighted the institution’s commitment to social responsibility. This action is part of CCDR’s mission, which combines support for regional development with the promotion of citizenship values, in line with its Code of Ethics and Conduct.

In addition to bringing joy to children and young people, this gesture reflects CCDR Algarve’s commitment to collaborating with entities in the social sector, contributing to a positive impact on the community. Thus, the institution demonstrates that public service can be an agent of change, especially in moments of celebration and hope like Christmas.
