Running for President of the Republic is already a difficult challenge to overcome
Who is most hindering Flávio’s aspirations to become president: Lula, Zema, Caiado or friendly fire? And when everyone decides to play against each other, how do you react? At first, they even said that he would inherit his father’s rejection. Didn’t inherit.
Running for President of the Republic is already a difficult challenge to overcome. Having Lula as an opponent, with all his experience and a pen in his hand to activate packages of kindness, makes the endeavor even more complicated. Let there be tough skin to overcome so many obstacles and resist so much pressure.
If these hardships weren’t enough, Flávio Bolsonaro still needs to keep an eye on friendly fire, with big names who insist on getting in the way of the campaign. One day it’s Nikolas Ferreira exchanging barbs with Eduardo Bolsonaro. In the other, Renan, the youngest of the children. And Carlos, the most belligerent, could not be missing.
Flávio has been handsome
And on top of all these setbacks, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, appears or disappears. This man, who was seen only as a technician, has already learned the tricks and tricks of politics. Knows how to speak without saying anything. During these months, he renewed his vows of loyalty to Jair Bolsonaro, but he had not reached out to support his son.
So far, the PL candidate has been good. Committed to maintaining his image as a moderate, he keeps putting a lid on all the disputes that arise. Without defending one side or the other, he firmly says that there needs to be unity, that the opponent to be defeated is in the other trench, not on the side that
defend.
He was the weakest opponent
Faced with this situation, even the government officials were elated. After all, as they thought, Flávio was the ideal opponent. Devoid of a combative personality, with a past exploitable by his opponents and without the support of a large part of conservatives, one blow would be enough to defeat him. So much so that Lula didn’t bother attacking him at first.
As soon as the polls began to show Flávio’s dizzying growth, given the successive drops in the government’s approval, the scenario began to worry and they moved towards confrontation. They discovered that they were facing a strong competitor.
Tarcísio showed up
Suddenly, faced with intense gunfire, Tarcísio decided to join the campaign. In a statement made on Thursday, the 15th, he openly defended the son of his political godfather: “I trust in Flávio’s candidacy, the candidacy is extremely successful. I am sure that Flávio will be the next president of the Republic of Brazil. Look out if this election doesn’t end in the first round.”
Finally, the long-awaited platform in São Paulo begins to be set up. This is a fundamental initiative for the aspirations of those who want to win the presidential elections. After all, it is the largest electoral college in the country. This interlocking of arms represents a strong demonstration of prestige and solidarity.
Disapproval on the rise
Can the results of the research and this important support from São Paulo leave Flávio at ease, with the certainty that he has already paid his bill? Only those who are politically naive count on the eggs before the chicken lays. Now begins the phase of accusations, narratives, attempts to disqualify the opponent.
Lula is not in a good phase. The recent Datafolha numbers are discouraging for the government: 51% of Brazilians disapprove, and only 45% approve. Not to mention that these surveys show a constant downward trend. It is not easy to reverse the direction of this graph.
Anti-petist sentiment
And what is most worrying for Lula is that, based on the results of the polls, what seems to be at stake are not exactly the merits and attributes of his competitors, but rather the anti-PT sentiment of voters. Therefore, disapproval is a relevant fact.
It turns out that, in this scenario of opposition to the government, even Zema and Caiado, who currently have poor numbers in the first round, as notable anti-PT figures, could win.
Everyone can get there
Therefore, there is no guarantee that this political mess will not change direction with the winds that will blow during the campaign. For example, Zema may leave the bottom shelves due to the confrontations he established with some ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
Caiado is another one who is at the bottom of the polls, but speaks out against crime. He obtained excellent results in his state. With this flag, you will be able to surf the anti-crime wave, which has become one of the most relevant aspects in the aspirations of the Brazilian electorate.
It’s all about to happen. Lula will be able to reverse the negative numbers if he improves his speech, shows more willingness to govern and sharpens his pen in the right direction. Zema seems to have found his way, saying what many people would like to say. Caiado has a strong stance in the fight against crime. And Flávio?
He continues to surf on his father’s name, on the moderate and conciliatory attitudes he has adopted and on the trust that voters show in his name, based on the results of the polls. Who risks betting? Follow on Instagram: @polito
