Brighton will build new stadium for women’s team – 04/29/2026 – Sport

English team Brighton announced that it will build a stadium with a capacity for 10,000 spectators, dedicated entirely to the games of its women’s team, a highly unusual and perhaps even unprecedented initiative in Europe, according to the club from the south of England.

The club said it expects to open the new arena “no later than the 2030/31 season”, subject to obtaining the necessary town planning permits.

The stadium will be built next to the Amex Stadium, home of the men’s team, and the two arenas will even be connected by a walkway.

It is the “first purpose-built stadium for a women’s team in the UK and Europe” and “one of only three stadiums of its type in the world”, according to a club statement.

In the United States, the Kansas City Current has played at CPKC Stadium since 2024. The new North American franchise, Denver Summit, in turn, plans to open a new stadium in 2028.

Brighton Women, who currently occupy sixth place in the English Premier League standings, play the majority of their matches at the Broadfield Stadium in Crawley, located around 30 kilometers from Brighton.

Several women’s teams have migrated to the stadiums of their respective men’s teams, such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
