German sweets manufacturer Haribo announced on Tuesday (28) the closure of its manufacturing and administrative activities in Brazil. The company alleges challenges in the competitiveness scenario in the country and external factors that have impacted the business environment in recent months.
Headquartered in Bauru (SP), the company continues its activities following a schedule until July. In a statement sent to Bauru city hall and published by mayor Suéllen Silva Rosim, the company says it recognizes the impact of the decision on the city and employees. The end of activities impacts around 150 city workers.
“As a global company, HARIBO continually evaluates its operations in different markets, considering factors such as the business environment, competitiveness and long-term sustainability of the operation,” said the company in the note released by the mayor. “In the case of Brazil, this assessment has become more challenging given the competitive scenario and external factors that have impacted the business environment in recent months.”
