Kátia Abreu makes a post comparing Alcolumbre to Judas – 04/30/2026 – Politics

Tipped to run for the government of Tocantins, (PT) suggested, on Wednesday night (29), that the president of , (-AP), betrayed the president (PT) because he is Jewish. Without mentioning names, the former senator compared Alcolumbre to Judas Iscariot, in a post on the social network X.

“Even a foot in the ass throws you forward. Nothing like one day after another and a long night in between. Judas was a Jew. He paid the price we know. Every era has its Judas”, said the original publication.

Then, Kátia edited the content, removing the mention of Jews. “Even a foot in the ass throws you forward. Nothing like one day after another and a long night in between. Every era has its Judas.” This Thursday morning (30), not even the edited version was on the former senator’s social network.

“I’ve already withdrawn it,” Kátia wrote to the newspaper’s report. Sheetdenying having committed anti-Semitism. “Never. On the contrary, I have admiration”, he stated, noting that he did not mention names.

The statement was inserted, however, in the context in which the former minister of Dilma’s government commented on the Senate’s rejection of the name of Jorge Messias, nominated by Lula for a vacancy on the (Supreme Federal Court). The character mentioned in the post, Judas, was the apostle who, according to the gospel, betrayed Jesus, handing him over to his persecutors.

Alcolumbre is a Sephardic Jew. His family originates from Morocco and settled in the Amazon region after the Second World War. He follows the Jewish tradition and, during his administration, enacted the Brazil-Friendship Celebration Day law.

Also on social media, experts and activists against anti-Semitism mobilized against the former senator’s publication. Sociologist Matheus Alexandre, who studies hatred against Jews, stated that Kátia “invoked one of the most barbaric forms of anti-Judaism” by associating Alcolumbre with Judas.

“This is not ordinary political criticism. It is the reactivation of an imaginary historically used to persecute, demonize and dehumanize Jews for centuries. Unforgivable anti-Semitism,” he wrote on Instagram.
