An operation by the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) against a group identified as the new dome for Jogo do Bicho in Banguin the West zone, seized more than 450 machines this Thursday (30).
In total, they were fulfilled 18 search and seizure warrants. According to authorities, there were no requests for arrest in the case, but five people ended up arrested red-handed for illegal possession of a firearm.
According to investigations, one of the target addresses functioned as a kind of headquarters for the new criminal leadership.
During compliance with court orders, agents seized documents, slot machines, and firearms.
According to the MPRJ, the organization would be led by Marcos Paulo Moreira da Silva, known as “Marquinho Without a Brain”who is already in prison. He would have gained space after the death of bookie Fernando Iggnacio.
Investigations also point to suspicions of money laundering and involvement in homicides recorded in the region in recent years.
The findings indicate that, since then, the group began to operate more broadlyincluding the control of illegal gaming points and possible links to violent crimes in the Bangu region from 2021
Os warrants were also served in other neighborhoods from the West Zone, such as Senador Camará, Realengo, Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Marechal Hermes. The operation was supported by teams from the Civil Police and Military Police.
