Chiefs of the União Progressista (/PP) federation do not believe that the president of , (União-AP), will go into open confrontation with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, after defeating the government with the rejection of Jorge Messias’s name for the Federal Supreme Court.
They see, however, a side effect of Alcolumbre’s removal from the president. The fear that he would work against the federation’s formal support for Flávio Bolsonaro’s (PL) presidential candidacy no longer exists. The expectation is that he will not now oppose the alliance.
Officially, União and PP still say they are evaluating Flávio’s behavior to decide whether to support him. The speech is that we need to wait and see if he will maintain moderate positions. In practice, the decision for the coalition has already been practically made.
