Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro stated on her Instagram account, on Friday night, the 1st, that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) can now move the fingers on his right arm, where he underwent shoulder surgery. This Saturday morning, the 2nd, Michelle said that he spent the night well at the DF Star Hospital in Brasília, where he is hospitalized.
“Galego (Bolsonaro) is already without nasal oxygen, he was able to eat soup, and the fingers on his arm during the procedure, which normally don’t move due to the anesthetic, started moving again this evening. He’s fine, thank God,” said Michelle on Instagram.
According to a bulletin from the DF Star Hospital released on Friday, Bolsonaro underwent an “arthroscopic repair of the rotator cuff on the right”, related to the right shoulder joint. The former president, who is under house arrest for an attempted coup d’état after the 2022 elections, complained of recurring pain that required daily use of painkillers.
Bolsonaro’s defense asked for authorization for the former president to have the surgery on April 21st and the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, allowed it on Thursday, the 30th.
After the surgery was over, the cardiologist on the medical team treating Bolsonaro, Brasil Caiado, stated upon leaving the hospital that the surgery took three hours and that there is no forecast for the ex-president’s discharge.
