We drive the Jaecoo 5 which arrives in Brazil for less than R$ 160 thousand

The Jaecoo 5 is one of the cars from Omoda & Jaecoo which will be released later this year. At the brand’s invitation, the CNN Brasil report was one of the few Brazilian newspapers to ride in the car before the national launch.

In Wuhu, a city in the interior of China — about 350 km from Shanghai and 1,100 km from Beijing — we participated in a marathon of consumption with the compact SUV.

We covered just over 600 km with other journalists, with whom we shared the driving at different times.

80% of the way was on highways, but we also passed through urban areas and a road that was just being paved, where it was possible to understand more about the company’s activities.

By the way, this one deserves a compliment. The suspension that equipped the Jaecoo 5 that we direct It has an ideal calibration for the Brazilian market — it is no longer very “soft” like in many Chinese cars.

Sound insulation is also good. Despite having a sunroof, we didn’t hear any wind noise. In the unit we were in, however, there was a slight vibration in the rear window, which made a noise when passing over uneven terrain.

On the road, we drive at a speed between 80-90 km/h to try to extract a lower consumption. At various times, we stayed behind trucks to take advantage of the vacuum and reduce drag (helps reduce consumption).

At the end of the journey, which lasted two days, the Jaecoo 5 of the team that CNN Brazil was present, recorded a final average of 26.3 km/l; At times we reached close to 30 km/l.

With this average consumption and engineering calculations, it would be possible to exceed 1,000 km of autonomy. It is important to point out that, when we left Wuhu, the car showed a range of 894 km on the instrument panel.

O Jaecoo 5 It should arrive on the Brazilian market by July and can be hybrid and electric versions. The price of the car should be below R$156,000, according to the report.
